  1. Kia ora Janet,

What an artistic way of re-creating the New Zealand flag. I really liked how you have represented hope within your design. This has reminded me of the hope I have for the Maori culture to thrive within New Zealand society. Maori are such an important part of our country, do you think there is a way we could represent them on our New Zealand flag?

I look forward to seeing more of your posts over the summer holidays.

    Have an amazing day Janet,

  2. Kia orana Janet,
my name is Cia. I am a Summer Learning Journey blogger who will be working with you over the summer break.

I like the way you have expressed your the choice of colour and symbols in your flag. I think it’s great that you have kept the colours of the original flag. Maybe next time you could include plants or wildlife that are native to New Zealand. That would definitely represent our country well and be more meaningful.

In my own design I made during the New Zealand flag referendum I used Koru patterns to represent our Māori people because I thought they should be included as the original settlers in Aotearoa. What colours or symbols would you use to represent Māori people in your existing flag design?

Great start to the Summer Learning Journey, I look forward to reading your more of your blog posts over these summer holidays!

Toe feiloa’i fo’i ('See you again' in Samoan),

    Cia.
